New Wave of Onboard Entertainment

When it comes to entertainment and family fun, these cruise lines will stop at nothing to deliver a fun-filled experience every time.

Recently, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Epic  set a new bar for cruise line entertainment with such offerings as their Cirque Dreams and Dinner show, the Blue Man Group and more, answering the call from long-time cruise fans for something more than Bingo and a Vegas-like (circa 1975) production shows.

But the trend was already underway when Royal Caribbean International debuted the musical Hairspray on Oasis of the Seas last year adding to a full menu of entertainment options.   After the rousing success of Hairspray on Oasis, the line announced it would add musical productions to their Freedom-class ships as well. Continuing on the success of Hairspray, Royal Caribbean will feature Chicago: The Musical on upcoming sister-ship Allure of the Seas.

Cruise lines are raising the bar on children's programming as well with partnerships announced between Royal Caribbean and DreamWorks and between Norwegian and Nickelodeon.  Soon, each line will have its own unique onboard offerings ranging from character events to onboard activities.

From Broadway-style shows to adventurous deck parties, Disney Cruise Line offers a full itinerary of exciting entertainment for guests to enjoy on every sailing. Broadway-style musicals are presented nightly at the magnificent 977-seat Walt Disney Theatre:

“The Golden Mickeys” – Guests of every age are entertained by the creative blending of theatrical song and dance, animated film, video and special effects into the most technologically advanced stage show at sea. This quintessential musical is a salute to Walt Disney and his legacy of animation magic, featuring many of Disney’s most famous characters.

“Toy Story-The Musical” – The toy-sized adventure of Buzz Lightyear and Woody comes to life in one of the most elaborate musicals ever produced for a cruise ship. Based on the hit Disney Pixar animated movie, this innovative adaptation conveys all of the humor, heart and fun of Buzz and Woody’s very first adventure together.

The Walt Disney Theatre hosts first-run Disney film premieres, allowing cruisers to enjoy a film’s opening at the same time it’s making its nationwide release on land. The Buena Vista Theatre also shows first-run releases and Disney classics. Both state-of-the-art theatres feature Disney Digital 3-D technology, bringing a whole new dimension of cinematic entertainment to the high seas.

As of December 1, 2010, Royal Caribbean International’s Allure of the Seas will be the first to welcome the DreamWorks Experience onboard their already stunning collection of experiences for the whole family.  Allure of the Seas will be the exclusive ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet with the How to Train Your Dragon Ice Show and Madagascar Aqua Show.

The fun never stops – book your getaway aboard any of these spectacular lines today!
