The whole cruise exceeded my expectations. The cabin while compact was very well appointed to give the appearance of a lot roomier place. The crew were very accomodating and unlike cruising on a larger ship they were eager to help wherever possible (we arrived early and the cook took our bags from the dock onto the ship as no one else was available at that moment). The meals were far superior to those that we experienced on our previous cruise with another cruise line. The waiters and waitresses seemed to work as a team, not just looking after their own tables but offering to assist when one of the others was busy. The tours were well thought out and while local guides were hired, a crew member always accompanied the tour to ensure that all went well. The use of audio transmitters and receivers greatly added to the enjoyment of the shore tours. The onboard programmes were excellent, and the lectures thought provoking. There were many highlights on the cruise with two of the most memorable being the visit to the "bridge" with an explanation of the navigation aids used by the captain and the Bavarian Yodlers evening performance. The weather did not co-operate but the ship' crew overcame any obstacles that it caused. The only thing that I would recommend is that Viking install a monitor that shows the boats progress along the river to save a lot of "where are we now" questions
