The QE 2's last segment of its Farewell World Cruise (2008) was an amazing experience for this veteran cruiser. Carol Thatcher (Margaret's daughter) and Richard Dreyfess were guest lecturers and they were show stoppers! The country and port lecturer, Dr. Peter Grimes, was excellent. The stage shows were top drawer and the Welsh soprano, Izzy, was wonderful. The ships crew were professional but perhaps some might find them a bit reserved, but that is Cunard's White Star Service. The ship is iconic and legendary. She traveled up to 32 knots, at times, to cover the long ocean stretches. The ship is a living museum with great displays of pictures, ship models, and nautical memorabilia. Thomas, the ship's historian guide, provided the most amazing tours of various parts of the ship and its displays. He hopes to work with the company that takes over the ship in November, 2008 when she becomes a hotel in Dubai. Would I recommend an ocean passage or cruise on QE 2 -- without hesitation. Would I recommend Cunard -- without hestitation.
